Scope of the Works
The two-track railway tunnel Eppenberg is the centerpiece of the four-track extension between Olten and
Aarau.
The Eppenberg tunnel construction contract consists of four sub-projects:
1. Rock tunnel Eppenberg (L = 2600 m)
2. Y-Branch building Wöschnau
3. Y-Branch building Gretzenbach
4. Lane Track change Wöschnau
Activities
- Pipe umbrella top heading, bench and invert excavation
(L = 60 , A = 160-210 m²)- Open mode TBM excavation in (L = 1’900 m, Ø = 12.75 m)
- Hydroshield TBM excavation (L = 700 m, Ø = 12.75 m)
- Emergency exit Aarauerstrasse (L=100 m, A= 18-19 m²)
- Execution of two blind shafts up to 60 m depth, which are constructed as evacuation galleries
- Excavation of access and rescue galleries
- plant Valorization of excavated rock as certified gravel for concrete production
- Own concrete production
- Handling and processing of the excavated material
- Handling and rail transport of concrete lining segments
- Conveyor belt facilities for mass transfer
- Construction of several cut and cover sections (total length of approx. 1.5 km)
- Execution of road under-crossing using the cut and cover method
- Construction of a 23 m deep and 400 m long construc- tion pit
